Hey Drivers! We’ve put off doing the “merch” thing long enough. By request, here is the first Haptic Garage T-Shirt ever offered. This will be a short run so order yours now and be the first to wear a little HG Grease on your sleeve! Sale ends November 25th.
Ride out the storm with us at Haptic Garage while we restore VW bug Dweezil during Hurricane Irma. We’ll finish painting the front suspension and steering parts with Rustoleum Primer and Gloss Black Enamel, take another look at the new stainless steel fuel line project, disassemble the rear brakes, and remove the Volkswagen transaxle. It’s getting a little breezy in here… Please support Haptic Garage by sharing your favorite video on social media.

The Dweezil VW Beetle restoration continues! The front suspension and brakes get sandblasted and painted during this step in the rebuild. There’s a few challenges while we use POR15 paint and then add a dust coat of Rustoleum primer. It looks like we might have a storm brewing in the Atlantic, so exciting times are on the way!
Dweezil gets a full day of attention in this VW Beetle Restoration as we gather parts, disassemble the front beam suspension, press out the ball joints, and prepare for a day of sandblasting. A small mystery with the steering column is solved and we make a little time for some smoked salmon. Who says shop food can’t be good? Let us know what you think in the comments!

The restoration continues with removal of the front beam and a deep dive into the steering box. Aircooled VW engines get a lot of attention, but even the less obvious parts of a vintage Beetle have some cool designs too. Dweezil shows us how the steering works while Tig smells things and provides morale support. Next!

Today we complete the VW Bug body removal project by pulling the engine and preparing to disassemble the chassis. We start by taking a look back at how this aircooled VW engine was built out of scrap parts and the process used to learn engine machining procedures and to experiment with engine modifications. Join us to see what we can learn from some Carolina Wrens and a vintage Volkswagen.

Dweezil’s restoration continues! This vintage 1968 VW Beetle will have its chassis restored soon, so the body has to come off. There’s an old DIY body removal dolly that we’ll have to remember how to use as we prepare this Volkswagen Bug for the next phase in its rebuild. Subscribe now so you don’t miss what happens next!

Dweezil is a rough 1968 VW Beetle that was formerly converted to a baja bug for off road use. We are bringing it back to life with a full body-off rebuild and then hitting the road!
